  • Lake Placid publishes exact route-source endpoint coordinates, but neither endpoint is presented as a full-service DEC hand launch. Confirm current legal water entry, parking, carry, landing, and signs in the field before bringing a boat.
  • American Whitewater says there are no trails near much of the river and that walking out through dense balsam is difficult. Build the rescue and withdrawal plan around the actual river corridor rather than assuming road access is available.
  • The AMR is a separate private conservation-easement property with marked-trail-only public rights and no public boating on its waters. Do not use AMR shoreline or roads as a shortcut or emergency staging area without explicit authorization.
  • Route 73 is the mandatory take-out boundary. Do not infer a continuous public access chain into the Wilmington reach or use an unmarked downstream bank as a bailout.
