Launch at Ponca and take out at Steel Creek for a short upper Buffalo introduction beneath Roark Bluff. Use the direct Ponca gauge as the decision point, and skip the route when the river is very low, rising fast, or above the NPS unsafe level.

Stage the take-out at Steel Creek, then drive back to Ponca. NPS says the shuttle is about 10 minutes and almost entirely on paved roads, but inspect both access areas before launching because congestion, weather, and flood cleanup can still change the plan.
