Current DEC guidance describes the route as a calm, meandering paddle with almost four miles up the Kunjamuk after the Sacandaga confluence, while the DEC paddling bulletin and regional route guide document the longer Elm Lake objective, slow current, meanders, shallow sections, and beaver obstructions. The route uses the village launch as both put-in and take-out; Elm Lake is a water objective, not a claimed vehicle-access landing.
