  • 4 Mile Ramp is the required take-out. KDFWR says a low-head dam lies about three-quarters of a mile downstream of the ramp, so missing the finish is not acceptable.
  • Varilla has only a small gravel parking area and no other services. Start with shuttle and emergency plans already sorted out.
  • Most shoreline between the ramps is private, and the corridor is remote enough that improvised bank exits may be unrealistic.
