Watch for

  • Rapid rises after thunderstorms, cold spring-fed water, limited cell service, and the sudden shift from remote upper river to heavier traffic into town.
  • Fatigue, daylight management, and the temptation to continue when the upper corridor is obviously too shallow. Treat a below-floor reading as a reason to shorten the day.
