- The Bardley gauge is well downstream, so this route can scrape, require walking, or feel more marginal than the gauge alone suggests.
- Cane Bluff is the first public access below Thomasville. Do not assume other gravel bars, primitive pull-offs, or private-bank openings on this upper river are legal substitutes for the named accesses.
Watch for
- Shallow riffles, walking, or short portages when the river is low, especially in late spring or early summer dry spells.
- Old low-water bridge remnants, fresh wood, blind bends, rain-driven rises, and Class I-II upper-river consequences on a remote corridor.
- Motorized boats are not recommended here, potable water is not available at the accesses, and dispersed-camping rules at Cane Bluff come with extra responsibility if you are not treating the route as a straight day float.
