  American Whitewater rates the reach Class IV-V and describes waterfalls, a sieve portage, basalt slot canyons, granite gorges, and a remote feel. Use an expert team with throw bags, pin/rescue equipment, cold-water protection, and a deliberate portage plan. American Whitewater trip reports and the Spokesman-Review describe a local stick-gauge target around 3.0-3.5 ft, with roughly 325-1,000 cfs at the downstream Spalding gauge in reported runs. The Spalding gauge is far downstream and correlation is blurry; verify the local stick gauge and inspect the actual channel before launch. The run crosses private property even though floating is described as legal under Idaho law. Expect fences, respect landowners, use only the named bridge access, and do not assume a bank landing or road pullout is public.
