Use a proven creek boat, helmet, PFD, throw bags, and a team capable of self-rescue in cold water. Call the Smith Creek diversion at (208) 267-2744 and inspect the local staff gauge below the diversion. The Boundary Creek online gauge is one drainage north and cannot replace the local release/stage check. The reach has a major drop near the lower half, an undercut left bank, and changing hydro operations. Confirm Forest Service road access, bridge parking, private-bank boundaries, and wood immediately before launch.
