Launch at Blue Heron and take out at Worley for the shortest KDFWR-documented Big South Fork family float. Use the Stearns gauge as a direct official flow check and stand down when storms or rising water push the river out of the lower bands.

Put-in
Blue Heron Canoe RampBlue Heron is the correct put-in for the easier lower corridor. Do not continue upstream into the Devil's Jump / wilderness section unless your group has a separate advanced whitewater plan.
Take-out
Worley Canoe AccessWorley is a carry-down access at the end of a rough gravel road. Inspect the road, shoulder, and shoreline landing before committing because two-wheel-drive comfort can change with washouts or mud.
Road shuttle
Stage the Worley take-out first, then drive back to Blue Heron through Stearns and the mine-road corridor. Inspect Worley before launching because the final gravel road is rougher, narrower, and less forgiving than the developed Blue Heron put-in.

- The route lies in a publicly managed NPS corridor, but same-day closures, storm damage, or event traffic can still affect access. Check park alerts before leaving vehicles.

- KDFWR calls the river extremely flashy, and storms in the Clear Fork or New River headwaters can turn a short scenic float into pushy brown water quickly.
- Worley is a carry-down finish on a rougher road spur. Wood, boulders, and steep private banks still limit easy mid-route exits.
